A side-on view of a full RapidFit Smart Cube

From reducing costs to empowering health and safety, our approach to design and production makes a difference both here and for our customers. Discover how modularity, resource efficiency, and lightweight parts drive sustainability.

Here at RapidFit, we are committed to lessening our impact on the planet with key principles that include efficient material use, waste reduction, and optimized processes.

But the hard work doesn’t stop at our own front door. We want to help the customers who count on our services do the same — we’re in this together, after all. Here are our top three methods for improving sustainability.

Modularity — reducing costs, materials, and delivery emissions

Modularity has always been a core attribute of our automotive cubing and quality control systems — and it means more to our customers than simply saving space. Because these sophisticated fixtures cover every design stage and tooling function, users can update their cubes easily and affordably for every design iteration.

By simply ordering the new parts that they need or switching between components, many of our customers drastically reduce production and halve their total cost of ownership. Data shows that 69% of the parts we produce are used multiple times, significantly reducing expenditure and waste.

Raw materials — reduce, reuse, and recycle

You’ll find evidence of reduce, reuse, and recycle everywhere you look at RapidFit — especially among our raw materials. We place high importance on resource efficiency, reusing up to 80% of our materials internally or giving them a new life through recycling.

This is another area where our customers can help. We’ll gladly accept any parts or materials that you no longer need and do all we can to reuse or recycle them responsibly, further reducing waste.

Beyond materials, we also insist on using our energy resources efficiently. Since 2021, we’ve powered our facility through 100% renewable energy.

People — designs that enable health and safety

Sustainability isn’t just about our impact on the planet. It’s also about our impact on people, and that’s a big motivator when we’re designing our products. By making our jigs, calipers, and production tools as lightweight and ergonomic as possible — as much as 90% lighter than conventional tools — we can drive safety and efficiency within the workplace.

Take the gluing jig we produced for Volvo, for example — a fixture that is 48% cheaper, 64% lighter, and 67% faster to produce than its predecessor!

As easy as 1,2,3

Individually, these efforts make a big difference. Combined, their impact is enormous, both for RapidFit and our customers.

  • - Our automotive fixtures are up to 90% lighter than conventional variants

  • - You can cut your total cost of ownership by up to 50% with our modular cubing systems and other fixtures

  • - These systems also allow you to speed up the time spent setting up your applications and make life easier for your operators

  • - You can minimize waste in all its forms — time, energy, and materials — by reusing components and sending unnecessary parts back to us

How Automotive Jigs and Fixtures Can Maximize the Benefits of 3D Printing

3D printing (3DP) is increasingly seen as the best way to produce automotive jigs and fixtures. But even though many auto manufacturers have already taken the 3DP route, far too many of them are still missing out on benefits like lighter weight, higher accuracy, lower costs and shorter lead times.
